Giant Hogweed

Giant Hogweed is one of three invasive knotweeds, stems can grow to 5 metres tall. Giant hogweed is made up of small white flower clusters making it easy to identify.

Giant Hogweed is renowned for its toxic sap and associated risks to human health. It poses a real danger to those accessing affected areas for recreational purposes. Plant sap on skin reacts with sunlight causing blistering and recurring rash when further exposed to sunlight. Advice is to wash the affected area thoroughly ASAP and seek medical advice. Keep affected areas away from all sunlight for at least 48 hours and apply high factor sun cream diligently to affected areas.
